Although I didn’t particularly enjoy or become fulfilled with excitement from this assignment, I was visually pleased with my overall outcome. This is simply because I approached this project as if it was a challenge-rather than slacking just because I wasn’t fond of the concept.
My final outcome of posters was very much underestimated in terms of the level I have achieved as I didn’t think I was even capable of designing a professional well presented posted, for something I lacked interest in. I felt creating posters of advertisement has been the most successful form of persuasion or encouragement for the public to come across and instantly grow an interest in. For example, posters are used for advertisement when new movies are being announced/released along with trailers. However, I know my best ability doesn’t lay with After Effects, but poster design comes in within my expertise.
I did enjoy experimental work, especially with colours, as I am known for being a fussy individual when it comes to decision making so with colour coordination, I was very wary of which colours compliment one another the most. I also had to consider which colours and style of design would be the most appropriate for the company I am advertising.
This project has done nothing but encourage me to challenge my ability of skills and techniques when working with software’s such Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator etc. I have always been unsure in terms of my confidence when using these programmes as the tools used on them are very daunting to me, however after this project I do feel all the more confident using these tools without the help from peers and my tutor.
Along with this being our first project of the year, we were introduced to a new challenge of uploading and recording our work onto a blog, of which we were given simple instructions of putting the site together. This gave me many skills of independence and the ability to work under stress. I really took pleasure in forming this website as a platform to show off my work, as we were given the ability to design it individually, giving me a sense of freedom. There were no rules to how we were allowed to present it which was also fun for me as I prefer there to be no boundaries on a design-based project.
